A 33-year-old police officer was shot & killed here in California on Wednesday morning. The officer, Ronil Singh, had pulled over a suspect when the man opened fire. Singh radioed in for help and when backup arrived they found him with several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital & authorities are now saying that the man who killed him was in the country illegally. Singh legally migrated to this country from Fiji, only to be killed by an illegal. President Trump just weighed in on the tragedy with a call for border security.
Fox 13 SLC is reporting:
“The man suspected to have shot and killed a police officer during a traffic stop in Newman, California, was in the country illegally, the Stanislaus County sheriff said Thursday.
The 33-year-old police officer, Ronil Singh, pulled over the suspect just before 1 a.m. Wednesday and a few moments later called out “shot fired” over the radio.
“Multiple agencies responded to assist, and Singh was found at the scene with gunshot wounds,” the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, which is leading the investigation, said in a news release.
Singh was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The suspect — who surveillance images show is a heavyset man with dark, closely cropped hair — took off in a silver or gray extended-cab Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, police said. In photos provided by police, he is wearing a zip-up hoodie with an Ecko logo on the sleeve and a thick silver chain around his neck.
The California Highway Patrol described him as Hispanic.
Sheriff Adam Christianson would not name the suspect.
Singh, a Fiji native, was with the Newman Police Department since July 2011.
“Our Newman police family is devastated by the loss of Ronil,” Police Chief Randy Richardson said, urging anyone with useful information to help investigators “get this cop killer off the streets.”
President Trump responded to the news in a Tweet:
“There is right now a full scale manhunt going on in California for an illegal immigrant accused of shooting and killing a police officer during a traffic stop. Time to get tough on Border Security. Build the Wall!”

Several hours before that, Trump took on Democrats over their obstruction of the wall.

This morning KOLO News 8 reported:
“The police chief of a tiny California police department choked up as he spoke about one of his officers who was killed the day after Christmas.
Newman Police Chief Randy Richardson said at a news conference Thursday that his department of 12 is grieving Cpl. Ronil Singh and that other agencies are lending a hand.
Singh was shot during a traffic stop Wednesday. Richardson pleaded for the public to help bring the attacker to justice as authorities search for the suspect.
The police chief called the Fiji-born Singh an “American patriot” and said he came to the U.S. to serve this country.
Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson told reporters that the suspect is in the United States illegally.
Singh was a native of Fiji who joined the Newman police force in 2011. He is survived by a wife and an infant son.”

This is so tragic. It happened about an hour from where I live. Here in California & other border states, we see the effects of illegal immigration every day. Now with this killing, a family is left without a husband and a father. President Trump has been warning that criminals are crossing our border & he has done his best to keep us safe, but Democrats are obstructing him at every turn. This officer’s death lies solely at the hands of the party that wants open borders, and for ICE to be abolished. This tragedy should never have happened, but because Democrats want illegals to be future voters, it won’t be the last time. Disgusting.
