Chelsea Clinton Tells Anti-Trump Reporter To Leave Barron Alone After ‘Chief Of Staff’ Joke

An anti-Trump reporter for New York Magazine made a joke about Barron Trump being his father’s next Chief Of Staff because he’s “too young to be tried as an adult.”

The reporter, Jonathan Chait, has a laundry list of articles that bash the president & Republicans.

Some of Chait’s article titles read:

“The Deficit Grew Because Trump’s a Republican, Not Because He’s an Idiot – Don’t Get Us Wrong, He’s Definitely An Idiot”

“Trump Threatening GM Over Its Plant Closure Is the Real ‘Gangster Government’”

“If Trump Didn’t Collude, Why Does He Keep Obstructing Justice?”

And:

“The More Republicans Lose, the Harder They Work to Rig the Game”

Today Chait made the joke about Barron being the next Chief of Staff.

“My darkhorse chief of staff pick: Barron Trump

1. Looks like Trump
2. Will not make Trump work
3. Cannot be tried as an adult”

Hours later, former first daughter Chelsea Clinton took Chait to task, Tweeting:

“Please leave Barron Trump out of “jokes” & analyses. He’s a kid and private citizen and deserves to be left alone. Thank you.”

Others on Twitter joined her in the sentiment, even those who are decidedly anti-Trump.

One user who has “Trump-hater” in her profile Tweeted to Clinton:

“Agree. He is not in any shape or form responsible for what his Father says/does. The bullying you have been subjected to over the years is an embarrassment and cruel. You shine despite and I’m very proud of you.”

Another person, whose profile states he is part of the “resistance” and wants Trump impeached wrote:

“AGREE 100%, @ChelseaClinton. We didn’t like it when they came after you, and when they came after Malia. Barron trump should be left ALONE. Full stop.”

And another stated:

“Thank you Chelsea. From one of the very few that know what it’s like to grow up in the WH.”

Chait responded to Clinton saying that the joke wasn’t about Barron, it was about President Trump.

“This is not a joke about Barron Trump. It is a joke about Donald Trump.”

During the Kavanaugh hearings, Chelsea told his attackers in the press to leave his daughters alone, also. The Washington Examiner reported:

“Chelsea Clinton on Wednesday pleaded with opponents of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh to spare his daughters from their criticism.

“Please leave Judge Kavanaugh’s daughters alone,” she tweeted Wednesday. “They do not belong in your cartoons, ‘jokes’, or skits. If you can’t make your point about Judge Kavanaugh, whatever it may be, without bullying his kids, it’s not worth making.”

Clinton’s tweet was a response to a Sept. 28 cartoon by Chris Britt that depicted 10-year-old Liza Kavanaugh praying for her father.

“Dear God, forgive my angry, lying, alcoholic father for sexually assaulting Dr. Ford,” the cartoon read.”

Chelsea has defended Barron before. In January of this year, a comedian made a joke at Barron’s expense, the Washington Times reported:

“Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton jumped to President Trump’s youngest son’s defense this week after comedian Zack Bornstein made a joke at the 11-year-old’s expense.

On Tuesday, Mr. Bornstein wrote in a now-deleted tweet that first lady Melania Trump’s special guest at the event, 12-year-old Preston Sharp, had been “recast as Barron” Trump.

Preston is credited with organizing the placement of more than 40,000 American flags and red carnations on the graves of Northern California veterans.

Mrs. Clinton told Mr. Bornstein and others to leave Barron Trump alone and linked to Preston’s fundraising efforts.

“Whatever our politics, I hope we can agree to both leave 11-year old private citizen Barron Trump alone and celebrate 12-year old Preston Sharp for his work to honor the graves of every military veteran,” the 37-year-old tweeted.”

In 2017, Chelsea also came to Barron’s defense. USA Today reported:

“The Daily Caller published Monday a story entitled “It’s High Time Barron Trump Starts Dressing Like He’s In the White House.” The story argues that the child should “dress the part” of the president’s son when he appears in public.

Even in this political climate, most people can rally around the right to privacy for presidential children who are minors. And Clinton wasn’t having it.

“It’s high time the media & everyone leave Barron Trump alone & let him have the private childhood he deserves,” she wrote on Twitter Monday night.”

We may have very different politics, but thank you, Chelsea Clinton, for sticking up for Barron.
