DA Willis was informed by a process server who visited her office in Georgia that she is required to participate in the divorce proceedings of Nathan Wade, a lawyer whom she had previously engaged as a special prosecutor in the case against Trump, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. The subpoena, requested by Joycelyn Wade, the wife of Wade, was delivered to Willis’s executive assistant.
Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, forecasted the potential removal of Willis from the case involving former President Donald Trump due to her suspected romantic involvement with the special prosecutor.
According to reports, Willis allegedly provided a payment of more than $600,000 to Nathan Wade, with whom she is said to have had an extramarital relationship, in order to appoint him as a special prosecutor for the investigation of former President Donald Trump’s attempts to challenge the outcome of the 2020 election in Georgia. Turley stated that the 13-count indictment, which includes RICO allegations against Trump and others, obtained by Willis in August, has the potential to remain valid. However, Willis might encounter consequences as a result.
“This is a very serious problem for her,” Turley asserted to “America Reports” co-host John Roberts. “It may not ultimately make a huge difference in the prosecution. It may result in her removal, might actually result in a delay, but it won’t necessarily result in the dismissal of the case against Trump,” he went on.
Contracts show that Willis compensated Wade, her alleged romantic partner, at a rate of $250 per hour for his services on the case, in contrast to the $150 per hour given to John Floyd, the foremost RICO specialist in Georgia. Interrogations on DA Willis’s romantic affairs arose when a co-defendant of Trump submitted a motion to remove her office from the proceedings, claiming an “improper, clandestine personal relationship during the pendency of this case.” Mike Roman, a former Trump campaign official, is among the individuals who have been accused, along with President Trump and 16 other individuals, of engaging in efforts to undermine the outcome of Georgia’s 2020 election.
Ashleigh Merchant, a lawyer for Roman, stated that the connection between Willis and Wade led to the special prosecutor and subsequently the district attorney benefiting greatly from this prosecution, while the taxpayers bore the cost. She asserts that the documents within the confidential divorce case would provide evidence to support Roman’s accusations, and she has asked the judge to order their disclosure.
