I trust Pelosi as far as I can throw Jerry Nadler.
UPI reported that “House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced legislation Friday to create a bipartisan commission to determine if a sitting president is capable of carrying out the office’s duties.
Pelosi appeared at a news conference with the author of the legislation, Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., to push for the legislation calling for a commission with 16 members split evenly between Democrats and Republicans who are medical experts or former high-ranking executive branch officials.
The 25th Amendment addresses procedures on a transfer of power to the vice president in case of a president’s death, incapacitation, removal or resignation, ratified after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
An independent commission meant to help with that transition was never created, though.

“This is not about President Trump,” Pelosi said. “He will face the judgment of the voters, but he shows the need for us to create a process for future presidents. This legislation applies to future presidents, but we are reminded of the necessity of action by the health of the current president.”
While Pelosi suggested the legislation was pushed by policy and not the person currently in office, Trump responded on Twitter, attacking Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
“Crazy Nancy Pelosi is looking at the 25th Amendment in order to replace Joe Biden with Kamala Harris,” Trump said. “The Dems want that to happen fast because Sleepy Joe is out of it.”

Trump’s health has been a concern since he was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus. The president’s doctors said Trump needed supplemental oxygen after he initially tested positive for the virus.
He was then given a mix of treatments to help fight the virus, including an experimental antibody treatment not available to the public and steroids.
“In the age of COVID-19, where a lot of government actors have been afflicted by it, we need to act,” Raskin said.”
Joe Battenfeld, a political columnist for the Boston Herald, writes that Pelosi’s bill is a “transparent power grab.”
“Nancy Pelosi’s push to create a commission to study the 25th Amendment is a politically transparent power grab designed purely to raise questions about President Trump’s mental and physical health right before Election Day.
It won’t work — and actually could backfire on Democrats if voters think the House speaker is trying to capitalize on Trump’s coronavirus diagnosis.
Pelosi claims the bill has nothing to do with Trump, yet at the same time, she says, “We are reminded of the necessity of action by the health of the current president.”
Right. Suddenly we have to introduce this bill now, but it’s about “future presidents.”
The only future Pelosi is thinking about is her own.
“She’s gone crazy. She’s a nut job,” Trump said Friday in an interview with Rush Limbaugh.
But Pelosi is not crazy — it’s actually worse. She’s deviously conjured up this bill to determine when a president is too incapacitated to lead in order to score political points off Trump’s illness. It reinforces Democrats’ attempts to raise doubts about Trump’s mental and physical health just as he’s attempting to return to the campaign trail this weekend.
And who would benefit if some commission determines that a president is unfit to be commander in chief?
Why, Pelosi, of course. What a surprise. She’s third in line of succession behind the president and vice president, and would be one step closer to the White House if a president has to step aside.
“This is not about President Trump. He will face the judgment of the voters, but he shows the need for us to create a process for future presidents,” Pelosi said at her Friday press conference introducing the bill.
She then went into a detailed explanation of her expert medical diagnosis of Trump, claiming he’s in an “altered state” because of the medication he’s taking to treat COVID-19.
Pelosi must be undergoing some kind of brain freeze due to overdosing on gourmet, $13-a-pint ice cream packed into her luxury freezer.
Or maybe she’s been exposed to the coronavirus herself after another unmasked trip to her expensive hair salon to get her hair coiffed just perfectly puffy.
The 25th Amendment stipulates that the vice president takes over in the event of a president’s death or resignation, or if the commander in chief cannot perform his duties.
Congress does not determine when a president is incapacitated — the Cabinet and the vice president do — yet Pelosi now seeks to widen lawmakers’ powers over the amendment and give them more say over whether a president is unfit to serve.
I’ll spare you the details of Pelosi’s bill because it’s not really a serious proposal and has no chance of passing, which Pelosi knows.
Just know that it’s a pathetic attempt to get under the president’s thin skin and remind voters that he’s been sick.
Democrats will take every chance they can over the next three weeks to exploit Trump’s infection to win the election.”
